Volunteering at Rhubarb Farm

We welcome everyone to Rhubarb Farm and everyone who comes is a volunteer, as we all have something to offer and can all make a positive contribution to life on the site.   We are totally inclusive and work together sharing strengths and weaknesses. You do not need to know anything about growing or outdoor work before you come, just think you'll enjoying working outside and finding some new friends and challenges.   You can work quietly away from others, or join in a group.  We provide support, friendship and a place to feel valued.

We can offer volunteering opportunities for a wide range of activities, from light tasks like sowing seeds, transplanting seedlings, collecting and washing eggs, watering, and harvesting, to heavy digging, barrowing, construction of raised beds, bed preparation, laying paths, making tool racks in the storage container, teaching growing to others, delivering newsletters or posters and lots of other jobs besides. We can provide for every need and ability, and if you have physical mobility problems or a learning disability, there is always a job that will suit you at Rhubarb Farm because of the wide variety of activities available.

We would also welcome you if you have IT skills, and would like to prepare our next newsletter. Or help with admin or office tasks. These sort of jobs can be done from home, but it is more sociable and fun to be with everyone else at the Farm!

We welcome referrals from organisations supporting people with needs, as well as self-referrals. We accept referrals for anyone with a personalised budget or direct payments to support their leisure activities, and can provide one-to-one support if needed. This can usually be arranged easily and quickly by discussion with our Volunteer Co-ordinator, Debbie Martin.

If you are interested to volunteer, complete our volunteering application form and email the completed document to enquiries@rhubarbfarm.co.uk, or, if you wish to make a referral or for more information contact the Rhubarb Farm office on 01623-741-210 during office hours (8.30-4.30).
