Our Programmes

Recovery Support

The Recovery Programme at Rhubarb Farm brings together two connected offers: The Third Space, our lived experience led community hub, and Farm Placements, our structured outdoor therapeutic activity.

Together, they create a flexible, person-centred pathway for adults in recovery who want to build confidence, connect with others, and take positive steps forward at a pace that feels right for them.

The Third Space

The Third Space is a welcoming, low-barrier indoor environment focused on connection, belonging, and peer support. It offers gentle, flexible engagement for anyone who needs a safe place to land, spend time with others, or begin exploring recovery in a non-judgemental space.

Based off-site at Langwith Community Centre, it offers a warm, safe indoor option for people who prefer community connection without outdoor work.

We understand that outdoor activity isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, so The Third Space provides a comfortable indoor alternative where people can still build connection, confidence, and routine.

What we Offer

What The Third Space Offers

The Third Space is recognised as a Lived Experience Recovery Organisation (LERO). This means the service is led and shaped by people with lived experience of substance use and recovery, creating a stigma-free environment rooted in connection and understanding.

All sessions are optional and low-pressure, with no expectation to speak or share unless someone chooses to. People can attend regularly or drop in as needed.

Transport and Access

Minibus transport is currently available from pick-up points in Chesterfield, Bolsover, Clowne, Whitwell, Creswell, and Shirebrook. Transport is optional and can be purchased separately. We take accessibility needs into account when planning routes.

Transport routes and pick-up locations may be adjusted depending on demand, accessibility needs, and availability.

Langwith is also served by trains from Worksop and Nottingham (every two hours) and three public bus routes: Bus 1 (Chesterfield), Bus 23 (Mansfield), and Bus 109 (Worksop).

Combined Pathway: The Third Space and the Farm

Together, The Third Space and Farm Placements form a joined-up recovery pathway. People can begin with low-pressure indoor groups, move into structured outdoor activity when ready, or start directly with Farm Placements if that suits their needs.

The Third Space provides:

  • Indoor community-based support
  • Peer-led groups
  • Flexible, low-pressure engagement

The Farm provides:

  • Outdoor therapeutic activity
  • Structured routine and skill-building
  • Animal care and horticulture

This combined approach supports people to move from isolation to connection, from connection to confidence, and from confidence to purpose.

How to Access the Service

There are two main ways to engage:

  • Open access – simply attend any scheduled group at The Third Space. No formal referral required.
  • Farm placements – self-refer or apply through Adult Social Care, Recovery Services, or another professional.
